Our First Tesla Charging Up!

A white Tesla Model 3 is being charged, using a Tesla EV charger at Tin Dragon Cottages in North East Tasmania

Last week we were thrilled to see a Tesla charging up with our EV charger for the first time (September 2020). You may recall that we installed two EV chargers late last year.

“Sandy” and Sue are the proud owners of the Tesla Model 3. Although they are both long-term residents of Tasmania, this was their first road trip to our region! Apparently they had decided to get into the spirit of the buy something Tasmanian campaign, and Sandy found us through the Tasmanian plug-share web site. So they drove out from their home on the Tamar to explore Scottsdale and Branxholm.

While the Tesla was charging up, Graham gave Sandy and Sue a tour of our renewable energy power scheme. By using both micro-hydro power and solar PV, Tin Dragon Cottages is fully self-sufficient for electricity. However, our property is not off-grid, because we export excess power into the grid! This makes us carbon-positive.

Then a second Tesla arrives!

We must be on a roll! The owners of this Tesla Model X stayed with us this week. Not only did they get their re-charge for free, but they were some of the lucky Tasmanians who had bagged an accommodation voucher!

So there really has never been a better time to be out exploring Tasmania. #Makeyourselfathome

If you own a Tesla EV (lucky you!) you can find Tin Dragon Cottages on the Tesla Destination Charger App. We would love to see you here!
