Alpaca Fibre Processing & Spinning Field Day

Tin Dragon Alpaca Fibre invites you to attend a field day at Tin Dragon Cottages in Branxholm. There will be demonstrations of alpaca fibre processing using a mini-mill and hand-spinning. This is a social day to chat and spin/knit/crochet. There’s a pop-up shop with fleeces and hand-spun yarns.….and much more!

Nature Art Retreat – Botanical Drawing

Led by a professonal botanist and artist, you will be guided through the process of observing and drawing plants accurately. You will learn about ecosystems and botany, that you can apply to gardening, revegetation and plant identificaction. Suitable for anyone interested in observational drawing and natural history.

Unlocking Colour DNA

Led by Tasmania’s only awarded coloured pencil Master (Australia/Canada), Richard Klekociuk, you will learn and experience the art of colour profiling, three-dimensional drawing and abstraction (the latter without losing your subject’s integrity). You will analyse the colour structure of the surrounding forest and river in a North East Tasmania rainforest setting.

Found Collected Dyed Stitched

You will explore our farm and surrounding bush to find interesting objects. Then you will use your collected objects and natural vegetation to create embellished eco-dyed textiles. The end results of this workshop could be embellished piece(s) of cloth or garments, a soft sculpture, a book cover or a wall piece.  Writing, drawing and meditations are on the cards too as are conversations about things which matter….and much more!

Bay of Fires Seascapes

In this workshop you will produce an acrylic painting from start to finish using ideas gleaned from your own digital images of Binnalong Bay, Bay of Fires coastline. So the theme is coastal, with an emphasis on water and rocks. Suitable for beginners to advanced artists.

As the days get shorter and wetter, the fungi starts popping up all over the place. And there is no better show of mycoid colour than in North East Tasmania. So you will venture out into the forests with Luke to track down and capture the best of the North East’s fungi!

Where are the art retreats in Tasmania?

Tin Dragon Cottages in North East Tasmania in the heart of North East Tasmania is a beautiful natural setting for a cosy painting or photography workshop. So, you will find your “inner artist” in a relaxed, safe and creative environment. We are taking up to (max) 12 participants (minimum four) for each workshop, so you can experience personal one-on-one painting tuition in our purpose-built workshop space.
